Registration

Please note that the American Heritage Horse Association is a Preservation Studbook which is selective to the foundation roots of the Spanish Mustang and Colonial Spanish Horse world. With this in mind, a horse must be eligible to have been with the SSMA, SMR or Old HOA Registries. If the horses have not been registered with those organizations there is no issue whatsoever. We simply require parentage and lineage of the horse in question.

We accept no modern horse influence and no horses form BLM herd management areas. According the the criteria of the American Heritage Horse Association, there are no Found horses, therefore please remember that with this in mind there are not horses of modern BLM herd extraction registered.

We will be requiring gene banks for herd sires as we begin. The next step will be the continued voluntary submission of mare gene banks so that research and documentation may continue. This is so, in keeping with the scientific, preservation and educational aspects of our sponsor Windcross Conservancy, along with providing a database for the registrar in case of a parentage or lineage questions. This will also alleviate any possible questions to parentage of horses as we continue.
